NEWS:

  • — Kristin and Rome were selected as clinicians for California State Music Educators Conference (CASMEC) 2021 . They presented "Music Through Rhythm" on February 19.
  • — Kristin and Rome were invited speakers at Sonoma State University's chapter of National Association for Music Education (NAfME) on March 4.
  • — Rome worked with 5th grade students at Washington Elementary for a virtual taiko residency in Spring, 2021.
  • — Rome worked with 2nd grade students in Vallejo for a virtual taiko residency in Spring, 2021.
  • — About 20 South Bay Beat Institute players, friends, and students in online classes worked over winter 2020-2021 and performed virtually for Asano Taiko U.S. and Friends Concert 2021.
  • — Rome will be teaching Taiko Pedagogy in the Smithsonian Folkways World Music Pedagogy Certification at West Virginia University in Summer, 2020 (postponed to 2022 due to COVID).
  • — Kristin and Rome will be joining Kristy Oshiro's Queer Taiko on June 26, 2021 for “Celebrating Our HeART-filled Heritage” at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.
  • — Rome worked with four elementary schools, teaching taiko and Orff method, through the Montalvo Arts Center, for the 2019 school year.
  • — Rome and Kristin were selected as Artists for Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) 2019 for the session Rome led: "Taiko for Western Percussionists".
